Shot
of the site of Stalbridge station.
Absolutely no sign of the fact that a railway of any sort went
through here, other than the name of the industrial estate (in photo).
Oh, apart from the rails in the road of course.
Only one track is there, the other was removed.
Strange, but a wonderful site indeed! Sept 2000, words & pic. Steve
Banfield.
"Reference rails in road photo at STALBRIDGE. This was the
siding to the buffer depot here. The main line was slightly further down
the road and ran parallel to the edge of what is now the steelyard"
- Supersparks
"The track that you have on your photos of Stalbridge show the
siding track that crossed the road to the food store (now building
merchants).
The main line tracks were removed in the late 60's/ early
70's"- Ian

As
above, from a slightly different angle.
Sturminster is off to the south of here.
To the north is another factory, completely covering the trackbed.

Looking
North towards Stalbridge station, looking north.
Nothing but fields, and a vague track in the distance.
Ditch to right forms probable edge to former trackbed? Sept 2000,
